A champion for a better future in Central Nova

Sean Fraser is a dedicated community leader who grew up in Pictou County, where he and his wife are raising a young family of their own.

Having been raised as part of a big family with two school teachers for parents, and having served as a representative for our region over the past nine years, Sean has a deep appreciation of the unique needs of our communities, and the incredible potential they hold. He understands what it takes to build stronger communities, create good-paying jobs, and help families with the cost of living right here at home.

Prior to entering politics, Sean built a successful legal practice as a commercial litigator with one of Canada’s top-ranked law firms, and studied international law under a Judge of the International Court of Justice and a Former Secretary-General of NATO as part of his Master’s Program in The Hague in the Netherlands. He also spent time working as a human rights lawyer for marginalized groups and individuals in Johannesburg, South Africa.

For the past nine years, Sean has been a steadfast advocate for Central Nova and has succeeded in delivering significant investments to the communities he represents. These federally funded projects include highlights like: a newly twinned Highway 104, the clean up of Boat Harbour, investments in new wharves for the fishery, funding to build a New Lifestyles Centre in Sheet Harbour, investments to create jobs with Michelin, enhancements to Trenton Park, funding to the Old School Gathering Place to support youth, funding for the St. Mary's River Restoration project, a new and modern NSCC facility for the skilled trades, and funding to support the Lake Charlotte Community Climate Infrastructure project.

He has also helped advance some of the federal government’s policy initiatives including the largest healthcare transfer to NS in Canadian history, a Canadian dental plan for seniors and lower income, a National Pharmacare Plan to cover costs of diabetic medication and contraceptives, a National School Food program, investments in mental health, implementing the Canada Child Benefit, restoring the age of eligibility for Old Age Security and GIS from 67 to 65, increase to GIS for low-income single seniors, a National Strategy to reduce chronic homelessness, investments to municipalities to speed up housing developments, advancing a plan to protect nature and fight climate change, student loan forgiveness for healthcare workers living in rural communities, investments for all transit providers in Central Nova to improve services and putting forward measures to advance gender equality in Canada.

Our country is facing unprecedented threats to our economy, and our sovereignty from our largest standing ally in the United States is under attack. Communities rightfully demand that we stand strong in the face of unjust tariffs, and we need a government that will do its part and fight for all Canadians. Sean Fraser has a proven record of success as an elected official and has garnered respect among colleagues from all political stripes.

Sean will work tirelessly to defend the interests of our region and its people, and will ensure that the residents of our communities remain at the heart of his decisions in Parliament.
